DMCA & Copyright Infringement Policy

Effective Date: July 27, 2025

At GuiltyChapters.com, we respect the intellectual property rights of others β€” and we expect our users, contributors, and visitors to do the same.

This policy outlines how we handle claims of copyright infringement in accordance with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) and international copyright law. If you believe your copyrighted material has been used on our site without permission, you have the right to request its removal.

1. Reporting Copyright Infringement

If you are a copyright owner (or authorized to act on behalf of one) and believe that material published on GuiltyChapters infringes your copyright, please submit a written notice that includes the following:

  • Your full name and contact information
  • A description of the copyrighted work you claim has been infringed
  • The exact URL(s) on GuiltyChapters.com where the material appears
  • A statement that you have a good faith belief that the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, agent, or law
  • A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner (or authorized to act on behalf of the owner)

2. What Happens After We Receive a Valid Notice

Upon receiving a valid DMCA takedown request:

  • We will promptly remove or disable access to the allegedly infringing content
  • We may notify the user or contributor responsible for the content
  • We may, at our discretion, suspend repeat infringers and/or block access to certain features of the site

If the user believes the content was removed in error, they may submit a counter-notification, which we will review and forward to the original complainant where appropriate.

3. Counter-Notification Procedure

If your content was removed due to a DMCA takedown and you believe this was a mistake or misidentification, you may submit a counter-notification including:

  • Your name, address, phone number, and email
  • A statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal court in your district (or, if outside the U.S., to a U.S. judicial district)
  • A statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good faith belief the content was removed as a result of mistake or misidentification
  • Identification of the removed material and where it previously appeared
  • Your electronic or physical signature

We may reinstate the content if the original claimant does not respond within 10 business days.

4. Repeat Infringers

Users who are subject to multiple valid copyright complaints may have their access permanently revoked. We take copyright law seriously and aim to foster a respectful creative community.

5. Content Ownership at GuiltyChapters
