Three months with two kids taught Tessa things she never knew.

Like how to shower in under two minutes. How to survive on four hours of sleep. How to breastfeed while helping Leo with homework. How to be in six places at once.

It was chaos. Beautiful, exhausting chaos.

“I can’t remember the last time I wore real pants,” Tessa said, looking down at her yoga pants.

Liam laughed. “What even are real pants?”

“Exactly.”

They were both exhausted. Both overwhelmed. Both running on coffee and determination.

But also—also happier than ever.

“I love this,” Liam said one morning, watching Leo play with Emma. “Our family. Our life. All of it.”

“Even the chaos?”

“Especially the chaos.”

Emma was an easy baby. Slept well. Ate well. Rarely cried. The complete opposite of Leo, who’d been fussy and colicky.

“We got lucky this time,” Tessa said.

“Or we just know what we’re doing now.”

“Debatable.”

Leo was adjusting well to being a big brother. Protective. Gentle. Constantly wanting to help.

“Can I feed Emma?”

“Can I change her diaper?”

“Can I sing to her?”

“Yes to all of it,” Tessa said. “You’re doing great, buddy.”

“I told you I’d be the best big brother.”

“You were right.”

Julian’s wedding was in two months. He’d asked Liam to be his best man. Asked Tessa to be a bridesmaid. Asked Leo to be ring bearer (again).

“This family loves weddings,” Julian joked.

“Because we do them right,” Tessa said. “Small. Personal. Full of love.”

“Madison wants kids. After the wedding. Soon after.”

“Yeah?”

“Yeah. She’s amazing with Leo and Emma. And I—I want what you have. The whole family thing. I’m ready.”

“You’ll be a great dad, Jules.”

“I hope so. You and Liam make it look easy.”

Tessa laughed. “It’s not easy. It’s constant chaos. But it’s worth it. Every second.”

“That’s what I want. The chaos. The love. All of it.”

“Then you’ll have it. With Madison. Soon.”

At four months, Emma started sleeping through the night.

“This is amazing,” Tessa said, waking up naturally instead of to crying. “I forgot what real sleep felt like.”

“I know. I almost feel human again.”

They celebrated by actually going on a date. Rose babysat. They went to a nice restaurant. Talked about things that weren’t diapers or feeding schedules.

“I missed this,” Liam said. “Just us.”

“Me too. Don’t get me wrong—I love the kids. But this? Adult conversation? Actual food that’s not eaten cold while standing at the counter? This is nice.”

“Should we do it more often?”

“Definitely. Monthly date nights. Rose is always offering to babysit. We should take her up on it.”

“Agreed.”

After dinner, they walked through the city. Hand in hand. Just—just being together.

“You’re an amazing mom,” Liam said suddenly.

“Where’s that coming from?”

“Just—just watching you these past few months. With both kids. You make it look effortless.”

“It’s not effortless. I’m constantly stressed and exhausted and worried I’m screwing them up.”

“But you’re not. They’re happy. Healthy. Loved. That’s all because of you.”

“It’s because of both of us.”

“Maybe. But Tessa—I see you. Really see you. The way you put them first. The way you—you give everything. The way you’re the exact mother you never had. That’s incredible. You’re incredible.”

Tears filled her eyes. “I just want to be enough. For them. For you. For—for all of it.”

“You’re more than enough. You’re everything.”

He kissed her. Right there on the street. And Tessa felt—felt whole.

She had this. Had him. Had their family. Had—had everything she’d ever wanted.

“Thank you,” she whispered.

“For what?”

“For seeing me. For—for making me believe I’m enough. For giving me this life. All of it.”

“You gave it to yourself. I’m just lucky enough to be part of it.”

“We gave it to each other.”

“Yeah. We did.”

They went home to relieve Rose. Found Leo and Emma both asleep on the couch. Peaceful. Safe.

“This is it,” Tessa said softly. “This is everything.”

“Everything and more,” Liam agreed.

And standing there, watching their children sleep, Tessa knew—knew with absolute certainty—that she’d made the right choices.

Coming back. Telling the truth. Choosing Liam. Building this family.

All of it had led here. To this moment. This life. This—this perfect chaos.

And she wouldn’t trade it for anything.

Not for the easier road. Not for fewer mistakes. Not for anything.

This was her life. Her family. Her—her forever.

And it was more than enough.

It was everything.
